News From The Creek: 4/30/21

Please see the following items highlighting upcoming events:

Project Thank You:

It has been an unprecedented year for everyone. This year our teachers have been working hard to deliver quality instruction under difficult circumstances.

“Project Thank you!” is an effort to share with our teachers a token of our appreciation for their efforts this year. If there are teachers to whom you would like to send a small note of thanks, please fill out this form and we will deliver it to them during Teacher Appreciation Week next week.

Summer Innovation Camp:

The VCU Center for Innovation in STEM Education, CodeVA, CodeRVA are proud to offer a free online summer innovation camp for students interested in learning more about computer science (CS) through solving team-based challenges. They are hoping to have teams of 3-5 students apply from middle and high schools located in our partner divisions (which includes HCPS).  We still have space for approximately 7 more teams to join. This is a direct link for families to sign up.  They anticipate slots filling quickly, so please sign up today if you have a team that would like to participate.

Important Picture / Yearbook Updates:

If you are a virtual student and ordered pictures, they are available in the office starting next week.  If you are unsure if you ordered any, please check by emailing  If a student did not get their picture taken, but wants to be in the yearbook, please send a headshot to the email listed previously by the end of next week.

This is the LAST WEEKEND to order yearbooks.  The website will cut off sales Sunday evening.  Make sure you have a way to remember this unique year!  CODE: 16872

This year, we are hoping to include parent messages in our end-of-year slideshows.  Parents, please fill out the following form once per student if you would like a message to be included (all grade levels may participate)

From the Attendance Office – Information/Reminders:

Students who chose in-person learning will only be approved for virtual instruction if the absence is due to COVID-related quarantine and illnesses (student, family, class, etc.). Students will not be able to move freely between in-person and virtual learning or use virtual learning if they are on vacation, etc.

What if an InPerson student is out and logs on to virtual learning are they marked present??  Or do they have to complete the warm-up to be counted present?? A F2F student cannot log in virtually to be counted present unless they are quarantined by HCPS or a doctor, or a special circumstance approved by an Admin. Those are the only exceptions!

Have a great weekend!!!
