The HEF grant is called: “Cougars: Explore – Collaborate – Create!”
The vision is to create a school-wide maker culture utilizing student-centered, guided inquiry and a collaborative, flexible library space as the hub to spark innovation and student engagement throughout the school. The grant has provided HCMS with a variety of hands-on tools and materials ranging from as high-tech as a 3D Printer to as low-tech as duct tape. The grant has also provided furniture to transform the library space into an inviting, learning commons.
With the support of our school administration, the HCMS PTA, and the HEF, the librarian and the ITRT will team up to provide professional development and coaching for our teachers to inspire them to use the library space in a new way, as well as to check out materials to integrate into classroom lessons.
