Friday, May 9 Shine Your Light Award Ceremony
We’re proud to recognize 30 students and 5 outstanding community members who have made a big impact at Greenwood. The ceremony begins at 7:20 AM and will be live-streamed into classrooms. We encourage all families to take a moment to celebrate these special contributors.
End of the Year Testing
Thank you for making sure your child arrives on time and well-rested during our spring testing window. These assessments help us build balanced rosters and identify needs for intervention and enrichment for the 2025–2026 school year. PK and KinderGators are completing their VKRP, grades PK–2 are wrapping up VALLSS, and grades K–5 are starting iReady diagnostics in reading and math. May remains a month of meaningful instruction, and consistent attendance is essential. Please avoid early checkouts during testing times.
Sunday, May 11 PAC Virtual Meeting
Join us for our final Parent Advisory Committee meeting of the year! This is your opportunity to connect parent-to-parent and get clarity on year-end activities and next steps. Your voice and questions help us better support our families as we finish strong.
Thursday, May 15: Greenwood Voyage
We can’t wait to welcome our incoming Kindergators at 5:00 PM! This event helps families get to know our kindergarten teachers and take part in fun, hands-on activities. It builds early excitement and helps children feel confident and connected before the first day of school. Families will leave with helpful tips, resources, and a few surprises!
Thursday, May 15: International Night & PTA Meeting
One of our favorite Greenwood traditions returns at 6:00 PM in the gym and cafeteria! We invite families to set up a table and share a dish that represents their heritage. This evening fosters unity and celebrates the rich cultures in our school community. It’s also a powerful way for our students to learn through food, music, and storytelling.
Thursday, May 15: Student-Led Conferences
Students will bring their Student-Led Conferences home to present to you in the comfort of your own living room. These conferences give students a chance to reflect on their growth and share their academic data, writing samples, and personal goals. They promote self-awareness, ownership of learning, and pride in accomplishments. We encourage families to make this a special moment of celebration and encouragement.
Friday, May 16: Reading Award Ceremony
We’re excited to host our 4th and final Reading Award Ceremony of the year, honoring students who have shown a deep love for reading. The ceremony begins at 7:20 AM in the gym. If your child is receiving an award, please ensure they do not ride the bus in the morning and are accompanied by a parent to school for this special event.
Friday, May 16: Ashland Skateland PTA Spirit Night
Join us for our final PTA Spirit Night of the year at Ashland Skateland on Friday, May 16! Doors open at 4:45 PM, and the fun rolls from 5:00–7:00 PM with free entry for all teachers. It’s a great opportunity to bring friends, make memories, and help us raise funds for Greenwood. Let’s roll into summer together and send our 5th grade seniors off in style with a night to remember!

2025-2026 Afterschool Registration - Sign up - CLICK HERE
Spots are filling fast! If your preferred group is full, please still sign up to join the waitlist—if enough interest is shown, we may open new sections. Please don’t wait until August to register, as late registration limits our planning and staffing ability.
Glow Report Reminders
Thank you for ensuring your child submitted their Glow Report. These reports play a vital role in our collaborative approach to goal setting and highlight the importance of academic achievement and positive behavior.
Recess Update
As the weather gets warmer, we encourage families to send students with a water bottle filled with water. We’ve seen a rise in sugary drinks, which can lead to energy crashes and affect focus and behavior. Staying hydrated with water supports brain function, energy levels, and overall health throughout the school day.
Lunch Reminders
Parents are welcome to join their child for lunch any day in May, but please remember that lunch will take place at the designated parent table in the hallway. This quieter space allows for more focused, meaningful conversations and helps minimize distractions for other students in the cafeteria.
No Cell Phone HCPS Policy
Just a reminder that students should not have cell phones or Smart Watches on during the school day. This ensures a distraction-free environment where students can fully engage in their learning and social development.
