Dr. Debra Smith $1000 Scholarship Winner
Congratulations to Gracie Hickey on winning this incredible award, funded annually by the Greenwood PTA. We had over 15 impressive applicants, and each submission was thoughtfully reviewed by a large committee. Gracie’s application stood out for her leadership, academic excellence, and commitment to community service. We look forward to hearing Gracie as our keynote speaker at our 5th grade graduation on Thursday, May 29 at 6:00 PM. Her voice represents the very best of Greenwood, and we are so proud of all she has accomplished.

Student-Led Conferences
We hope you enjoyed the Student-Led Conference presentations on May 15, 2025. When families are involved, students show increased motivation and take greater ownership of their learning. Your engagement strengthens the home-school connection and positively impacts both academic and behavioral growth.

Yearbooks Have Arrived
We are SO grateful to Mrs. Fox, our incredible PTA board member and supportive parent, for putting together another masterpiece! Our goal is to distribute pre-ordered yearbooks this week and begin selling extras on Friday, May 23 during morning arrival. These will go fast—don’t miss out!

Public Library Visits
We’re excited to welcome the Glen Allen Public Library as they help us kick off a summer reading challenge! It’s a great opportunity to keep students engaged and inspired to read all summer long.

Attendance Matters
Daily, on-time attendance is essential and directly impacts our school’s accreditation. The magic at Greenwood is still going strong—let’s finish the year with strong attendance every single day!

Lost and Found
All remaining clothing items left in the Lost and Found after May 30 will be donated. Please have your child check for any missing items before that date.

Medicine
All medication left at Greenwood in the clinic after 2:00 PM on May 30 will be discarded. If your child has medication at school, please arrange to pick it up before the deadline.

Monday, May 19: Rock the 90s
We can’t wait for our students to perform in front of the entire school at 9:00 AM. Doors will open at 8:45 AM for parents. Get ready for a fun and nostalgic performance that will have everyone singing and dancing along! We hope everyone can wear 90s attire!

Tuesday, May 20: Field Day
All students should wear their house shirt or color for a day full of fun! This exciting event builds teamwork, school spirit, and memories that last a lifetime.

Tuesday, May 20: Color Run
Our Color Run is coming up at the YMCA at Shady Grove. It’s a joyful celebration of movement, laughter, and community. We recommend a white shirt, old shoes and towels for the car.

Wednesday, May 21: Head of House and Spirit Captain Interview
Our 3rd and 4th grade students who applied for top leadership positions will be interviewed during their LAMPS time. These interviews help students build confidence and practice real-world communication skills. It’s an empowering way to recognize leadership potential and promote student voice.

Wednesday, May 21: 1st Grade Visitors from Pinchbeck Elementary School
We are excited to host another school from 10:00–11:45 AM for great games and special activities. What a wonderful way to celebrate the end of the year with their pen pals. Events like this foster new friendships and build empathy through connection.

Thursday, May 22: 5th Grade Kickball Tournament
Our 5th graders will travel to Glover Park to compete against Trevvett Elementary in a kickball tournament from 10:00–11:00 AM. All 5th graders should wear GREEN. This friendly competition encourages teamwork and sportsmanship. It’s a perfect way to bond with classmates before graduation!

Friday, May 23: Hungary Creek Middle School Science Fair & History Museum at Greenwood
We are excited to host middle school students as they showcase their projects. The middle schoolers will also have lunch with our 2nd graders in the cafeteria—what a special moment! Collaborating with older students helps our Gators envision their future and builds curiosity and excitement about middle school learning.

Tuesday, May 27: Device Collection
All students will turn in their devices with no stickers. Thank you for ensuring your child’s device is clean and in good condition. Please note there are fees for missing computers and chargers.

Wednesday, May 28: House Cup
This is the big day we announce which house will be crowned champions! The winning house will celebrate with a Game Truck, inflatables, Kona Ice, and more! All students should wear their house shirt or color to show their pride.

Wednesday, May 28: House Achievement
We look forward to celebrating students who earned their behavior goals for the marking period. Students with six or more X’s or one discipline referral will participate in a restorative circle. Recognizing positive behavior motivates continued success and creates a supportive community. Restorative practices ensure every student has a chance to reflect and grow.

Wednesday, May 28: 5th Grade Party
We can’t wait to celebrate our 5th graders from 11 - 1:00 PM with a list of special activities. As a reminder, each 5th grader needs a ticket to attend.CLICK HERE to Purchase Ticket
